Our Current Project:Tiger Anti-Poaching Patrols in Sumatra

Karma Cats are currently raising funds to support Flora and Fauna International's (FFI) work in Kerinci, Sumatra.  Here Deb Martyr and her team run anti-poaching patrols as well as well as stop illegal loggers from destroying the small amounts of remaining forest required by the tigers and many other species to survive.

The FFI Indonesian programme is the organisation’s largest and they have been working on tiger conservation issues in Sumatra since 2000. The Indonesian programme is administered through an office in Jakarta, which works closely with the UK office in Cambridge to manage the programme’s finances.

Past Fundraisers - 2012

On October 27th 2012, Karma Cats held a Fundraising Event in Brisbane to raise funds to help support Deb and her team in Sumatra so they can continue their fantastic work.  The fundraiser was a huge success, raising enough funds to purchase two new motorbikes and two new GPS units to assist with patrols, contribute to the purchase of a new van, as well as some smaller items such as cameras etc. for the patrol teams.

We are still supporting the anti-poaching patrols in Sumatra and have sent them further funds this year.  If you would like to help support the anti-poaching team, please contact Liz on +61 (0) 404 222 991 for more information.

Past Project : Clouded Leopard Project (June 2012)

In June 2012, Karma Cats members raised money to support the Clouded Leopard Project.  Funds were used to build educational kits to educate the locals on the importance of conservation and why they should protect the clouded leopard and it's habitat. Education of the local people is one of the keys to making a difference.
